Things are moving along.....

It's been a crazy couple of weeks since my last post.

I took some time off work to do some odd jobs around our current home, in preparation for whatever the future brings.  This included renovating our laundry which was never really finished since the last reno. A splash of paint and some re-tiling and she looks as good as new!  We also decluttered and I finally got around to emptying my shed, creating some much needed storage space. I found the time to load up the truck (3 times!) with the trees and shrubs I pulled out a few months back and dispose of them so they no longer kill my front lawn.  We also mulched the flower beds. This was a mammoth task which was made so much easier as the kids dug in and gave their all to help move 4 cubic metres of the stuff. The difference is amazing!

Pulling out the weeds!
Cardboard is so much better than weed mat :)
So much mulch!

Finished!

Whilst all of this was going on, there was still a focus on our Havana @ Calderwood.  Rob forwarded us our Deposit Variation (our updated quotation) with the changes we wished to make after our last meeting with him.  Again, we are very happy with the quotation and things are looking good in that regard.  We did make some small variations to our last ideas and we are now waiting on Deposit Variation #2 but all in all, our dream is taking shape.

We also received an invitation to attend our first meeting at the McDonald Jones My Choice Colour Studio at Oak Flats, so we headed out there last Monday. This place is amazing! This is where all the magic happens. We get to make our interior and exterior design selections and I kid you not...there is so much to get your head around.  We were presented with a folder which we are told will become our bible and from this we start working out what we want and how we want them to look.

The bible!

Me trying to get my head around the exterior colours.

It's still very early days as we won't have our actual selection day meeting for a couple of months yet. On this day we are locked away in the Colour Studio for 5-6 hours going through and finalising everything from floor coverings to paint, bench tops and door knobs.  Until this time though, we need to be doing lots of research and seeking ideas on what it is we actually want. I am sure  I will have many posts on this subject over the coming weeks and months!

There has been plenty of movement in the valley since Christmas/New Year.  Heavy machinery has moved in and plenty of clearing has started to occur. This is still Stage 1 but it's exciting to see things moving along.

Dirt!

Glad they kept that beauty!

A digger!!

Tonka Trucks!

On a side note, pretty disappointing that our trusty old fridge decided to give up the ghost :(  :(  :(

Our fridge for two days :P

But a HUGE thanks to Shell's friend who got us out of trouble by giving us their old one :)
