Lot 2357 Calderwood Valley

The journey began at Calderwood Valley, a new Lend Lease development just outside Albion Park heading out towards the escarpment.

Michelle and I spent a weekend visiting some homes for sale in the local area to understand what a larger home would cost us and it was during this time that we explored a new development at Brooks Reach, to the west of Dapto.  Here we stumbled upon a stunning McDonald Jones display home that took our breath away- The Havana. This is when our dream was born!

We only registered our interest in purchasing land with the Calderwood Valley sales office in early October and we quickly learnt that buying land in itself was going to be quite a process.  Land releases were occurring monthly, with a limited amount of blocks being released. We joined the waiting list during the release of Stage 2 and from all accounts, Stage 1 was a resounding success with blocks being snapped up extremely quickly.  With demand so high, we needed to be on that list!
The process was  little daunting; emails were sent out to interested parties on a Friday afternoon and the first to reply were allocated a meeting time to sit down and discuss what was available and pay deposits. With no idea how many people were on the list and only a handful of blocks being released at a time, the prospects of securing a meeting let alone the right block appeared to be quite slim.

Luckily for us things fell into place and we secured our block on November 5. Block 2357.

Our block is a split level block with the rear sitting some 1.2m higher than the front.  Our street (named Rd 11 at this stage) runs uphill, so our house will sit higher than our neighbours on the right but lower than our neighbours on the left, when standing out the front of our house. At 16m x 30m, the block is large enough to accommodate our McDonald Jones Havana Renwick.

The block won't be registered until early 2017, so we have  bit of time to wait before we can see exactly where it is located.  Michelle and I have made  a few trips out to the area and are pretty certain we have pinpointed the approximate location of the block.  Here is the view looking towards the hill where our street will run. The escarpment views in the distance will be at the rear to our property, with the rear facing north, north east.
