True Colours...Part II

I can't believe I haven't blogged since July. So much has happened!

We re almost at the 3 year mark since buying Maplebrook 2357 and there have been times where we have just felt that the dream of building a house is just to darn hard. From rain delays, asbestos contamination, cost increases, expiring tenders, really crappy customer service, frustrating processes and expectations and just the fact that it shouldn't really be that hard! We really feel like we have been trough the wringer and run over couple of times.  However things are starting to fall into place and this dream we have looks like it might just become a reality!  :)

The last couple have months have seen finances finalised, further payments made to Mincove to get the ball rolling with contract and colour selections and we currently have plans in with the developer. Next step is private certifier to get the OK and hopefully the builder is ready to go before Xmas.

A nice combination :)

Over the last two Fridays we have completed our colour selections for our new home.  In an ideal world this is done on one day, like we did with Mojo, however our tile supplier is closed this week for renovations and we were lucky enough to be squeezed in last Friday to complete this. Having selected tiles with Mojo we were comfortable with the process and the selections we had already made however we did tweak some selections.

L to R: Artisan OSLO Denim for En-Suite floor (bit of an upgrade :P) with a standard 300 x 600 white wall tile. Hexion Snowflake 300 x 600 for Powder Room and Laundry wall. The dark 300 x 300 is for the floor in Bathroom, Laundry and Powder, the lighter version for walls in Bathroom. Standard white Subway for our all white Kitchen.
Yesterday we met with the lovely Jo from Mincove to go through our internal and external colours and selections. This too was a very quick process as we had a pretty good idea what we were after. We did change our external colour selections as we really do like the colours of the display home at Shell Cove and after little bit of back and forth we landed on the below colour scheme:

Top to bottom: Roof will be Colorbond Windspray with Colorbond Shale Grey Facia and Gutters. Brick will be PGH "Truffle". Window Frames, Eaves and Weatherboard will be Colorbond Surfmist. Brick render will be Taubmans "Grey Wolf", Garage door will be a Flatline design also in Slate Grey. Front door will be timber to match the Stringy Bark hardwood we will have on the front balcony. Balustrade for the balcony will be Colorbond Surfmist post and rail.
To help visualise it will look like the below with lighter shade of grey (Grey Wolf in bottom of image above) instead of the darker blue/grey on the brick render around the large window :)

"The Cove" @ Shell Cove. A stunning design by the team at Mincove.
Throughout the morning we also picked everything from internal door handles through to tapware, most of which we kept standard. We made some tweaks to our stairs by matching the posts and handrails to our Blackbutt floors and we switched the balustrades to a stainless steel version rather than painted pine.  We have spent several weeks choosing the flooring after deciding that the original floor we picked with Mojo wasn't quite right for this house. The Swish Aquastop Blackbutt is relatively new on the market, a totally water resistant laminate flooring (140mm wide) that is scratch and impact resistant. It certainly looks great in the shop!

The Kitchen!

We decided to utilise the K.I.S.S method - Keep It Simple Stupid! :)

We are after a crisp, clean look with no fuss or weird colours. What better way than just white on white...right!

40mm Caesarstone benchtop - "Snow"

Cupboards/Drawers - Classic White Sheen

Really hard to capture a true representation in the samples we have but below are some images I found that will give some idea as to what our kitchen will look like with white on white. Colour will be introduced via some funky appliances :)

Leisure Coast Kitchens: Lots of designing going on. Not a great representation of our samples...the stone is a little dirty.

We also played around with our humungous walk in pantry. We installed a bench space with some cupboards underneath and a space for our built in microwave.

So hopefully it won't be too long until the next update. Will have to wait and see how things progress with CDC/Council and how soon Mincove can get on-site.

Cheers

Tim
